Our audio obsession
We’re a team all about the audio – we live and breathe sound and music. It isn’t just our passion, it is our obsession.
Harnessing the mind of lead engineer Alex Cooper, we have an audio industry legend designing our products from the ground up, all manufactured here in the UK, in beautiful East Devon.
Alex is revered as one of the best ever to do it in the pro world – having his products used and installed all across the globe, it’s a true testament to his approach to audio and his design mentality in his quest for sonic perfection.
In terms of his notable achievements, Alex has been lead designer for MC2 Audio’s legendary DELTA series, XTA Electronic’s notable MX36 console switch – and his custom designed brand of guitar amplifiers have been sold to Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), Pete Townsend (The Who) and Micky Moody (Whitesnake).
With Alex at the helm of our product ethos – our objective is simple: delivering the magic of live and studio audio to the home audio set up.
Above all else, it is the audio that matters.
The Team behind
Ultrafide
The drive, passion and success of both MC² Audio & XTA Electronics have been channeled into our new Ultrafide Audio creation – with the team being our real point of difference.
Alongside the aforementioned Alex Cooper, we are led by General Manager and jazz fanatic Robert Bradshaw-Smith, and overseen by technical directors and company owners, John Austin & Terry Clarke – with Terry having designed tape machines for the BBC and a digital delay device for Mark Knopfler, alongside John and his audio processes for NASA and DSP algorithms used in every corner of the globe.
Product specialist and DJ/Producer Mark Bailey oversees the day-to-day running of the brand, with former MOD engineer and guitar player Alex Skidmore adding his technical expertise as production manager. This is all backed up by our marcomms guru, Tom Bradshaw-Smith, who also runs multiple record labels outputting both digital and physical (CD, Vinyl) releases over many years.
We have brought the soul of our sonic pedigree to the home – having pioneered high quality audio in the pro industry for decades.

Our first products, the Ultra Sigma Combo, were a statement of intent – offering audiophiles worldwide a new level of sonic quality for their home systems.
With both the U4PRE preamplifier and U500DC amplifier, Alex Cooper was given a blank canvas with which to operate for Ultrafide products and freedom to over-engineer, with the sole goal of audio quality, sonic purity and unrivalled stereo image.
